Job Description

The Opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Estimator to deliver accurate and timely building estimation services to ensure Buildcorp tenders are accurate, competitive and low risk propositions. You will support project teams to ensure variations are accurately priced.

 

 

The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties:

  • Prepare initial estimating assessment of tenders for tender shortlist review. Look for project content, risks and opportunities to assist with overall decision to proceed or for-profit maximisation for Construction Management (CM) projects.
  • Final preparation and presentation of rated and coded Bill of Quantities and/or cost plan for internal review and issuing appropriate information to stakeholders.
  • Tender Start up process: ensure documents are accurately entered into Tender Centre, perform accurate and timely trade break ups of documentation, appropriate trade subcontractor selection lists, and liaise with subcontractors to ensure they have a full understanding of the required scope of works and programme and that documents contain accurate information and looking for costs savings
  • Comparison and analysis of Subcontractor pricing and draft the project preliminaries. Analyse risk and use this information to minimise Buildcorp exposure to risk and finalise tender price. Assist in submission preparation.
  • Conduct regular meetings with key subcontractors throughout the tender period to ensure we obtain the most competitive pricing and accurate bids.
  • Preparation of job files for handover of successful tenders to the project team and the preparation of project budgets for review. Assist in the preparation of construction variation works if required to maximise benefit to Buildcorp.

Desired Skills and Experience

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Solid knowledge of tendering, building standards, estimating procedures and the competitive market
  • A thorough understanding of the building process as well as a proven ability to identify and evaluate construction risk
  • Ability to price tenders accurately and efficiently where project values are more than $20 million
  • Well-developed ability to engage with subcontractors and develop loyal and ongoing relationships
  • Excellent eye for detail, including the ability to read construction drawings to enable accurate pricing
  • Well-developed ability to present and participate confidently in internal and external meetings

 

Ideal candidate will possess the below:

  • Construction, engineering or quantity surveying degree or a building related qualification or trade with additional experience to equate to degree
  • 6 years+ experience in a similar role in the construction industry
  • Construction Safety Induction (white) card
