Job Description
The Opportunity
As Contracts Manager, you will take end‑to‑end responsibility for the commercial management of assigned projects. Working closely with Project Directors, site teams, clients, subcontractors and consultants, you will ensure robust contract administration, cost control, risk management and commercial governance throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a senior role suited to a commercially astute professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, delivery‑focused construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end‑to‑end commercial management of projects to achieve targeted financial outcomes
Develop and implement procurement strategies, including work package breakdowns, subcontractor selection, procurement methodology and timing
Drive timely award of subcontract packages within approved budgets
Proactively manage contract, commercial and financial risk through accurate forecasting and corrective action
Lead identification, assessment and negotiation of head contract variations and scope changes with clients
Manage contractual obligations with the client, including progress claims, variations and extension of time (EoT) claims
Provide commercial advice to the leadership team on claims, disputes, contractual correspondence, risks and opportunities
Manage and resolve contractual claims and disputes, including liaison with internal or external legal advisors
Produce accurate cost reports and forecasts, providing early warning of variances against budget
Maintain strong market engagement and foster collaborative partnerships with subcontractors and consultants, staying across market movements and conditions
Coach and mentor commercial team members to build capability and performance
Contribute to margin improvement through disciplined planning, negotiation and collaboration with the project team
About You
You are an experienced commercial professional with a strong track record delivering complex construction projects and leading contractual and financial outcomes.
You will bring:
Demonstrated experience in a Senior Contracts Administrator or Contracts Manager role on large‑scale construction projects
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage financial risk and contractual complexity
Previous experience with Jobpac & ProcurePro would be preferable but not essential.
Excellent negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet critical timeframes
A collaborative leadership style with experience coaching and developing teams
Tertiary qualifications in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
